About Dubizzle

Dubizzle (pronounced doo-biz-zull) stems from an ancient Greek word, dubizelius, meaning: really-awesome-and-easy-to-use-community-portal-for-Dubai-that-will-be-displayed-and-accessed-through-a-futuristic-device-called-a-computer-that-won't-be-invented-for-another-2-3-thousand-years (rough translation). Of course the word is a rather bleak and oversimplified definition of the website dubizzle.com, but we decided that due to the strange and fortunate coincidence that dubizzle kind of sounds a bit like the word Dubai, we'd give it a try. Yet perhaps the most interesting and baffling aspect of this ancient Greek word is that Sim and J.C. made it up.

One of our friends pointed out to us that Dubizzle is actually a conjunction of all of the words that define the website. Although it is impossible that the ancient Greeks could have ever intended such a coincidence, and nor could have Sim and J.C. when they made up the ancient Greek word, our friend had a point. Dubizzle stands for: Dubai, Business, Lifestyle and Entertainment. Of course the two young entrepreneurs took this revelation as a sign and quickly hired their friend for his proven epiphanous insight. Unfortunately, a short five minutes later, the friend, forgetting that he was now an employee, made the grave mistake of calling El Capitan (J.C. Butler) by his first name and making direct eye contact with El Presidente (Sim Whatley). Needless to say he was promptly fired without pension or recommendation and was banned from ever using the website again.

Sim B has many times during his life, been asked the question "what do you want to be when you grow up"? While it is unsure at what age he will quit changing his mind, it is confirmed that never has he said that he wanted to live in Dubai and own a community website called Dubizzle.com. That being said, however, he has, from a young age, said that he would like to rule the world, and while there is no proven profession that guarantees complete world domination, dot com owner seems like a logical place to start. Of course he has also said from a young age that we would all have our own robots by now and that he can see dead people, so I wouldn't worry too much.
